Well Shlombay, I respect your fervor, but I think you are wrong. We create more enemies with these endeavors. You cannot reconcile our propping up dictators in 19 Arab states and then going along and attempting to build a sham democracy or secular democracy on Afghanistan. Tell me Shlombay... so I am a doctor right? If you come to me and you find out that I take bad care of 60% of my patients, are you going to let me take care of you? Your idea on this makes no sense... you are attempting to say that a secular democracy makes sense for strategic US interests... while that may be true, you run into the wall that I spoke of before, which is forcing that system onto people at the barrell of a gun. So then you answer: I will not force it... I will peacefully tell them about it. OK, so great... then that brings you back to why we need a military footprint there and why we have to nationbuild in the first place. We already disagree on the utility of that per me being an American Firster and ascribing to the words of Washington, Jefferson, and Quincy Adams amongst others.

america has behaved more like mafia then police. in some instances they have been helpful, though (i have to add)
those are fine words from those early elders of america, but the horse has bolted and has been for about 200 years. america has to pay some dues. if i come into your house b.a. and destroy your furniture etc, who do you think should pay for that? ok, you might be insured..but afghanistan isn't.
