by Mirwais Himmat on 2 February, 2011 - 17:48 GHAZNICITY (PAN): Development projects worth million of dollars will be launched in the southern province of Ghazni this year, the governor said on Wednesday.
Some Muslim countries and the Polish Provincial Reconstruction Team had promised to implement the projects, Musa Khan Akbarzada told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Saudi Arabia would construct a huge mosque in Ghazni City, the provincial capital, while the United Arab Emirates had pledged to build a trade centre, he added. Pakistan will construct a playground.
Polish and American troops want to invest $20 million in road projects, wind electric systems and urban development, according to the governor.
The Ministry of Counternarcotics had set aside $2 million for development plans in Ghazni, Akbarzada said. The funds will be spent on mega urban development schemes in the provincial capital and four other districts.
Project proposals will be presented to the next summit of the Organisation of Islamic Conference OIC, scheduled to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in March.
Provincial council secretary, Abdul Wali Khanzada, said they would share a development plan with the government in the near future.
