Afghanistan needs Pakistan help on security

Kabul: The Afghan president's spokesman says security cooperation with Pakistan is key if his nation is to be able to quell its virulent insurgency.

Wahid Omar said on Monday that President Hamid Karzai discussed the issue with Pakistani officials during a recent mini summit in Turkey where he stressed that Afghanistan will not allow its territory be used as a springboard for operations against its neighbours.

Omar says Pakistan can help with security in Afghanistan by not allowing its territory to be a terrorist safe-haven.

He says there can be no improvement "unless were are sincere in our cooperation."



The Taliban-linked Haqqani network often stages operations in Afghanistan from its sanctuaries in western Pakistan.

Would ardently disagree wrorre and the evidence speaks against this. India was openly assisting the USSR (reference below) and relatives of mine in the vale of Qandahar stil tell the tales of Indian jets flying in tempo with the Russian counterparts. This is exactly why the Pashtuns of Pakistan (especially of the FATA belt) will never unite with us, because of this sort of logic. When Bacha Khan bought Nehru to FATA, the tribesmen treated Nehru as a guest but were ready to drive Bacha Khan out for his daring to bring this insulting offer to their doorstep. I also believe that Ahmad Shah Baba would never have warmed up to India, except their Muslim population, even if you cut off his 4 limbs. Remember, he even forgave a Muslim Emir who waged war against him thrice... and THRICE Ahmad Shah Durrani forgave him and put him back on the takhth and gave him all the rights and dignity that the other Amir would never have shown him. This is why God preserved him.

The conjoined twin theory comes from the idea that the durand line can never be recognized and can never be secured. The freedom of movement will always exist.

We all know the pashtuns east of the line are not fond of india, at the same time neither are the pashtuns west of the line. The indian Migs that flew side by side with their soveit counterparts, the pashtuns east of the line know that their brothers west of the line fought against them. Their is no animosity between them regarding indian support for the afghan government since the pashtun population never accepted them.

If pashtuns are to unite, it can not happen with the current afghan regime nor will it happen with the awami national party in power on opposing side of the line. Nationalists with secular ideas can never win over the pashtun masses who are mostly inclined towards Islam. A new movement has to emerge for the unity to occur.

Ever so clearly a reflection of dark comedy per your impotence in being able to unite the greater majority of our own people under a dead carcass state that would pay homage to the son of Mossoud, the fruit if Dostum's loins, the up and coming Bollywood Bhutto, Iran, and the same Russians that they worked hard to kill with great efficiency.
