Afghan school text books in Pashto
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

If Afghans truly are learning what is prescribed in that curriculum, than I can confirm that an average Afghan knows more about science than an average American, when it comes to comparing them after high school graduation.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

@Admin wrora,
you have to understand that Pakistani school books are also not that bad,but where is Pakistan today as it was 30 years ago,you need skilled teachers,people who think who can bring a change to the country and with this change we will have from generation to generation better educated people,who can then themselves serve the country and its people.
I for my part if Allah makes it possible i want to be a teacher,it is like to be gangster for Henry from Goodfellas.High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

Afghans are also less dependent on things such as calculator and computer.

Pakistanis and Afghans are both parrots, due to low quality teachers. That however, is a higher education problem. One of the reasons why the US practically owns the world is because it has the best higher education system(with the best universities)on earth. AFPAK lacks in that category, even India with respect to its population lacks in that category. However, in terms of high school graduation, AFPAK students are far superior than the average American. It's university where difference arises.Originally posted by Afghanistan2010 View Post@Admin wrora,

I agree with you to some extent i.e., there is more emphasis on rote-learning and preparation for exam-passing than concept-learning. This has to be remedied. One way would be the long-route i.e. initially mass literacy and then quality which automatically would come as a consequence. The other option is tackling the problem head-on by overhauling the exam system, revising the curricula and course books, and invoking rigorous teacher training.Originally posted by Admin Khan View PostPakistanis and Afghans are both parrots, due to low quality teachers. One huge change I am seeing in Pukhtunkhwa is mass literacy, which is increasing. It already tops other provinces in rural male adult literacy (69%) where it gets beaten is female literacy which is dismal 35% that brings down its overall average). But there is a slow move towards quality now.
Last time I visited Pukhtunkhwa I found more and more schools offering Cambridge based O-level, and A-level curricula and more and more students opting for it. I think in a couple of years, there would be a push for revision of things to improve quality.
I think individual should contribute towards this.
