What a treasure of detailed knowledge on Pashtunwali. I was always searching for such a book on Pashtunwali which I found now. I consoder Pashtunwali to be the cultural and social religion of Pashtuns althu religion has nothing to do with culture and society.

Instead of inspiration from Arab culture and society here we have what to follow being Pashtuns. No doubt the faith , modes of worship and religious morality do come from Islam which is a religion while Pashtunwali is a complete social and cultural code for Pashtuns.

This book is a classic. Written by a true Pashto khidmatgar and wesh zalmay Qiyamuddin Khadem. I was looking for his books even in Kabul they are impossible to find. Thanks for sharing.

@Darweshkhel: this book has been found and bought in one of Kabul bookstores in mid 70's or so. I was told that this is the only one known "specimen".
My professor has great collection of books about Afghanistan and Pashtuns.

Some of the books may be found in Peshawar but I was several months in Kabul and didnt find any old books. Some book sellers dont even know names like Khadem or Benawa. Pashto literature is again forgotten..

@Darwashkhel - that's why you are here - to preserve the Pashto literature.

Oh, I read a bit of Benawa in Russian translation - there was one poem I liked really much.
But the translation wasn't surely the best.
