Language Policy and Language Conflict in Afghanistan and Its Neighbors
I am reading each and every word of the book. Highly interesting.
The diaglossia and its categorization in L in favor of Dari while Pashto as H is one of the reason Pashto has a lesser prestige or no prestige at all in Afghanistan.
However I do not agree that Pashto being L has less complex grammar. Also this data is doubtful that Dari is spoken by 50% Afghans while Pashto only by 35%.
This is very interesting that Mahmud Trazi claimed that Pashto is ancestor to all Aryan(Indo-Iranian) languages but very strange that he himself used to write in Dari not in Pashto.
Again interesting that the era of Taliban was the only era when Pashto really enjoyed the real official status in Afghanistan.
