          Incredible!
It's a very nice conservative Muslim country, you would probably really feel at home.

So kindly, friendly people. I traveled there before all these mosques were built. At least I don't remember seeing any in this - looks like Brunei style?! -

I had a copy of a speech made by the Malaysian Prime Minister in which he boldly speaks against Zionists, etc. I was impressed.

Maybe the climate there is more conducive to freedom of expression? I don't know.

But the countryside is absolutely lovely.

Food is great too, as I recall!

What would you do there? Or just go to live for awhile to see another culture?

Amazing images. The photographer deserves a lot of credit - it must have been a lot of work.
I had to come back and look again a few times!

Abubaker, you saw I'm sure the video posted last month by SK about the Kelantan govt's attempt to return to the Gold standard with the dinar, and the silver dirham?
It was really a great video.

In that you get a glimpse of the sweetness of the Malay Muslims.

The culture of Malaysia is enhanced by the three ethnic groups which live there. There are Chinese who came to work I think in the plantations and Indians.
So there's a real cross-section of Asia present there. Thus a lot of spark and cultural interest.

People get along pretty well, considering the tensions that can be.

Are you studying your Bahasa Malaysia - ?

I'd go there in a minute rather than troubled UK.
Malaysia is so much more relaxed and friendly of a place. Economically, they are reasonably strong. Despite propaganda that they are struggling - just my guess. I think they are sounder than usually given out to be by Western sources.

A good and SAFE bet for your family, in my opinion. Let us know when you decide.

Feroza Banu, Singapore is kind of boring. If you want to stock up on Tiger Balm or something it's OK, but it lacks color.
A very organized and controlled society, however. More than any Western country. Singaporeans are really well behaved and rarely break laws. This was due to its longtime leader Lee Kwan Yew who ruled Singapore with a strong fist. It IS very disciplined, perhaps the opposite of Malaysia...

Catya: I don't know much about sigapore and its people... i have been interested to visit because of how some of the movies portrays it as a vacation spot... I have heard some stories though about the discipline that you are talking about. I thought malaysia is disciplined too... or i could be wrong. Thank you for the information. i certainly wouldn't wanna be in a boring place... but I will do more research about it whenever i decide go inshaAllah.
