India, the world's second fastest growing economy, has been ranked as poorer than its blighted enemy Pakistan in a United Nations report on global poverty.

The report also finds more 'gender equality' in conservative Pakistan than in 'tolerant' India.

Its findings amount to a wake-up call for a nation which has taken great pride in its rapid economic growth and the increasing clout of its billionaire business leaders but has failed to share the spoils with its poor. Britain's Department for Internmational Development has pointed to this chequered progress to justify its continuing aid to India.

The Human Development Report reveals that while India ranks slightly above Pakistan in its level of 'human development' – based on life expectancy, schooling and per capita income – its wider poverty level is worse than Pakistan's.

In absolute terms, 41.6 per cent of India's 1.1 billion people earned less than 78 pence per day compared with 22.6 per cent of Pakistan's 173 million.

The report quotes its 'multi-dimensional poverty index' which includes measures of schooling, child mortality, nutrition, access to electricity, toilets, drinking water, and hygienic living conditions, and reveals India is poorer.

It found 53.7 per cent of Indians suffering from this broader kind of poverty, compared with 49 per cent of Pakistanis.

More surprisingly, India is ranked below Pakistan and Bangladesh on gender equality which reflects maternal death rates, teenage pregnancies, access to education, and the number of women parliamentarians and in the workplace.

India's rural development minister Jairam Ramesh said the report highlighted the prevalence of poverty in the midst of economic growth and the possibility that "actually economic development may lead to retrogression of social indices." Priya Subramanian of Save the Children said India's poor ranking reflected a lack of political will to tackle poverty.

"It is things like healthcare and education which have India lagging behind Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. These countries are well on track and India, with its fast growing economy, has still not got its act together," she said.

"While we have a new band of millionaires, on the other side people continue to suffer endlessly. Millions still live below the poverty line and go to sleep hungry. The [economic] growth has not flowed towards them," she added.

Even chad and somalia are not that poor let alone Pakistan

Still doesn't make Islamabad a Tier-I Indian city.

                    Jealousy and Islam

Allah (SWT) mentions in the Quran:

"Allah favored some of you over others with wealth and properties do they deny the favors of Allah?" (Surah Al-Nahl; 71)

However being jealous does not change Allah’s decision. Therefore, a jealous person grieves and troubles in vain because of his jealousy. Besides, he earns sins which are a burden on him. In truth jealousy affects more damage to the jealous himself than to one whom he is jealous of.

A Muslim must always have in mind that jealousy is forbidden. The Prophet (pbuh) said:

"Do not be jealous of each other, do not boycott each other, do not hate each other, do not contrive against each other. Be all of you brothers to each other, O Servants of Allah”. (Dawood :14 )

Jealousy is one of the most negative emotions a man may have towards his fellow being. It makes him to wish downfall for others and to be delighted when failure grips them.

When Allah ordered the angels to bow down to Adam, Iblis refused to bow because he was jealous of the honor that Allah gave to Adam. He said to Allah, "Do You see! This one whom you have honored above me, if You give me respite to the Day of Judgment, I shall surely bring his descendants under my sway, all but a few." (Surah Al-Isra; 62).

Jealousy is such a dangerous characteristic that Allah revealed verses of the Quran to be recited as a protection from the jealous:

“Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn… from the evil of envious when he envies.” [Surah Al-Falaq :113)

When Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) was asked who are the best of people? He (pbuh) replied:

“the one with a clean heart and truthful tongue.”

Again they asked: ‘We understand a truthful tongue, but what does a clean heart mean?’ He (pbuh) answered:

“It is the heart of one that is pious, pure, and is free of sin, transgressions, hatred and Hasad.” [Ibn Majah]

Deja Vu: Pakistan and Nigeria to Sign JF-17 Fighter Jet Deal in November | The Diplomat

Pakistan appears to be close in securing its first international customer for the joint Pakistani-Chinese Pakistan Aeronautical Complex/Chengdu Aerospace Corporation (PAC/CAC) JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft, according to media reports.

Pakistan and Nigeria have allegedly inked a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of an unknown number of JF-17 multirole fighter jets a senior official from Pakistan’s Defense Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) told IHS Jane’s Defense Weekly during the Africa Aerospace and Defense exhibition, held in the second week of September in South Africa.

It looks "amazing" superficially , any posh area with planned construction in any other city also look like this. The city is soul-less and there is no life there........moreover its not like its a paradise. Those who live there will inform you about its issues. I have lived there for some time and water supply to the houses is a very issue there. There were tons of other daily life issues there. The visitors , who tour through it for few days, may be charmed by its greenery and hills in the view, but any long term living there is zulm on yourself unless you have no choice and has job there.

Also i noticed that quite a chunk of the city is reserved for the Pakistan army, even though they were supposed to be content with just Pindi. Its my Tax money which is spent on development of Islamabad while my own area is extremely backward area with mud houses.....this is ugliness of Pakistan.....only "Gul Khans" and other stupid types will brag about "amazing Islamabad"

Only 0.5% of people pay tax in Pakistan, you're are not one of them. 95% of Afghans live in mud houses but I don't see them complaining about Kabul government.

Its the capital of 200 million Pakistani's including pashtuns why shouldnt one be proud of its beautiful capital? Its been called one of the best planned capitals in the world by alot of foreign delegates .

Do you know that 15 % of islamabad population is pashtun and thousands of pashtuns students study there own houses , have their job and do their business there? Its a great city by any account . It has a liberal and western lifestyle and many outsiders who are used to people to people contact and neighbourhood bonding are put off with that.
