  • The wonderful Maya world

I recently visited Guatemala, Mexico, Belize and Honduras and was highly impressed by the Maya ruins which I saw during my tour. You will be wonder stuck once you are in front of ruins like Tikal and Lamanai .

Although the pyramids of Teotihuacan are not purely Mayan but once you are on the top of the piramide del sol in the Teotihuacan near Mexico city, you will be flabbergasted and will have to believe that this is not some thing human but celestial. The same feeling you will have once facing Machu Piccho in Peru and the pyramids of Cairo Egypt.

The Mayan ruins in Quintana Roo state of Mexico are also terribly impressive and one is astounded by their glory and majesty.

I would love to listen from dear members if they have visited these archeological sites or other similar sites and what theory they have that how can those people thousands of years ago build all such wonderful buildings without having the modern technology and construction material.

I do not know we have such relics of Pashtun civilization. The only one come to my mind is the fort of Rohtas of Sher Shah Suri. But if Pashtuns are thousands of years old people then where are their archeological sites? Do you think that Gandhara and Bamyan kind of ruins and archeological sites can be related to Pashtuns?

For Maya ruins pictures please click below. I am sure you will not be that much interested to see my pictures! What I request friends to share their first hand experiences of visiting such ruins and also comment whether Pashtuns also have similar sites.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
