from these accounts, the tribal areas of pakistan don't sound very nice at all. i have driven through khost, but the way people talked about the people across the border(jokingly but serious at the same time) they made it seem like the people there are crazy.Originally posted by Afghanistan2010 View PostMiranshah at night remembers me of the wild west, lol.
There are dogs who will bite you to death, everyone has a gun next to the door, and if you are at wrong time at the wrong place you might get shot,or the dog gets you first.
We have quite alot of relatives there,it soo beautiful.
But onething never to forget, maybe this sounds nationalist....
whenever you cross into Afghanistan, don't forget to kiss the ground and offer two raka of nawafil prayer. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

It is not crazy,i even do not cosider it part of pakistan,i consider it as the lawless area of this world, where you have freedom, real freedom.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postfrom these accounts, the tribal areas of pakistan don't sound very nice at all. i have driven through khost, but the way people talked about the people across the border(jokingly but serious at the same time) they made it seem like the people there are crazy.
It is dangerous for those who have never lived or stayed among them.
As for us we are related to some families settling right in Miranshah, and we visit them often. It is at day beautiful amazing, unbelieveable you can enjoy, and do alot of things there, but only with connections,if you don't have any contact, you might be ignored, watched what you do as if you were an agent.High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

what about Pashtunwali there, as far as I know it has been practised even during Taliban times and it still works well. Seems like there is almost no warlordism. What do they do to keep that place safe? Are there arbaki units? Do they pay taxes? Is it possible to travel there from Kabul and talk to tribal elders?

Here is a youtube video that can bring some insight how Khost really is.
Its mostly a real male dominated society like any other Pashtun citys and vilagers. On the street you almost see no women. So Pashtunwali is still kept alive there when its about women, I don't know how far and how strict they are on other things......
