^ it's true, it's sad, it happened due to the scenario of partition and actually before 1947 Karachi was a multicultural city due it's location and port. There were many urdu speakers, Gujraties, pashtuns. baloch, punjabies etc... already living there, but of course the migrations that took place in 1947, created a huge imbalance of population in Karachi, Sindhis became tiny minority. Today of course the city has people from all over Pakistan.

Generally interior Sindh is still pretty much Sindhi, you can see Sindhi culture there in full swing, but unfortunately the lack of development is the major problem there, that's why interior Sindhis remain illiterate. the government and the feudal people are to blame for this.

Yes i can see the guys in the photos are wearing Baloch style caps/hats but that really does not prove Sindhis are mixed with Baloch anymore than me becoming English by wearing a jacket and trousers.

I have read that majority of Sindhis are descended from Jat tribes and perhaps Rajput tribes and even forgotten tribes of the past such as Meds who were similar to Jats. No, it was not written by Jats or Sikhs or trolls on a forum but by British and Pakistani Muslim writers. I think it is often suggested that Jats and similar tribes spread from Sindh to Punjab and other areas in NW India.

The Jats were the ruling tribes in Sindh before Bin Qasim came over though when he arrived power had been taken by a Brahmin who had been a minister under the Jats. This is all documented by Arab historians of that era and written up in "History of India" or something like that by a British writer. Jat tribes were also earlier in Baluchistan as per something I read long ago in an American journal - written by a Pakistani archaeologist who called Jats "the Royal tribes of the area" in his article. Jats in those days were mainly Buddhists apparently.

Its quite possible that Baloch in Balochistan are mixed with Jat tribes and some Baloch tribes might before have been Jat tribes.

Are not some genetic studies showing that Baloch are mainly in fact South Asian origin though speaking "Iranic" language? Like Kurds genetics show them mainly to be Middle Eastern but speaking a language close to Baluchi? Language adoption is quite common in history. Its happened often enough. I must say though that Balochi sounds a little like Punjabi and nothing like Pashto - though I have only heard Balochi a few times and maybe I had an ear ache at the time?

^ that's sindhi topi dude, that's part of sindhi culture, also baloch have settled in sindh for long and they have intermarried with sindhis, I am not saying every sindhi is mixed with baloch, but there are many who are mixed with them.

Genetically Baloch are actually seperated from south asia, they form their own cluster in central south asia region. I will be posting a new spread sheet on the pashtun dna thread, you can see all the genetic info in there

Sindhi topi - it was originally Balochi cap and now known as Sindhi topi.
"..among such other civilizing interactions a beautiful piece of cultural art is Sindhi Cap which was introduced among Sindhi natives from neighboring Baloch people.
A reason regarding the convey of Balochi cap among Sindhi people was that northern areas of Sindh is bordered with Baluchistan, for that basis the replacement of every aspect of life was order of the day.....Transaction of cap from Baloch to Sindhi people also seen several innovations seemingly correlated with Sindhi culture and the time came this cap has merged with particular Sindhi dress, sober structure, walking style etc: and called “Sindhi Cap. In any part of the Pakistan if you see some one worn Sindhi cap he must be thought Sindhi or resident of Sindh.
                        "

Some Baloch tribes moved from Balochistan and settled in Sindh fairly recently (historically speaking) and Baloch also ruled Sindh for some time before the British. People in South Asia prefer to marry within their own groups rather than making a decision to intermarry with other groups. However individuals from different groups sometimes marry across groups. Also some tribes forget their original language and background and adopt the language of the area where they settle (or natives sometimes adapt the language of newcomers) and then become "natives" of that area and over time start to marry with the natives. That's how mixing mostly occurred in South Asia - to my understanding. But these photos you printed here, I just see them as Sindhis of different appearances not as Sindhis looking like Baloch.

Karachi is for everyone, Pashtun, Sindhi, Mohajir, Bengali, Bihari, Memon whatever.

Don't troll Bharati. Mohajirs came to Pakistan. They had to live somewhere. How did they 'invade' or 'colonize' the Sindhis?
