  • Tourism - Swat Serena Hotel

The Swat Serena Hotel is set in six acres of beautiful landscaped grounds and gardens in Saidu Sharif in the lush Swat Valley. Located at the foot Hindukush Mountains in the North West Frontier province, the hotel is a magnificent combination of colonial and Art Deco architecture with wide verandas and magnificent views of the rose gardens and mountains. It is within walking distance of the town of Mingora and offers facilities and the best levels of service.

Traditional and continental dishes are served in the Suvastu Restaurant, and the Wali Lounge serves drinks through out the day. During the summer months, you may enjoy a delicious barbecue outside in the gardens. Leisure facilities include badminton, a table tennis room and an out door pool. Golf can be arranged on a nearby course. Fishing, emerald-hunting and camping tours can be organized, accompanied by a professional guide. There are many places of interest in the area including a ski resort and excellent walks at Madyan, Bahrain and Kalam. Murghazar, the famous white marble summer palace of the former Wali (King) of Swat, is well worth a visit. Only one thing to be aware of :
the Serena hotel chain is owned by the
    Agha Khan -

I remember having been billeted in the
Gilgit property while at a Northern Areas
Tourism Convention - that was back when it was new.

Now there's one in Hunza, too, I see.

I wonder how this and all these hotels
are faring due to what I expect to
be the drastic drop in foreign tourists
in the decade of the 2000s...

    Apparently there are Serenas
    slated for
Mazar and Herat - too -

Must be aimed at the providing
    "suitable accomodations"
for members of the occupation forces.
