What sad pictures. These places 10-15 years back actually had trees covering those now bald hills. Timber mafia = deforestation = land slides = water issues = natural disasters = death. Not to mention over population and loss of revenue in tourism.
Toranama saiba ddera manana...it has been forever since I went to Shangla, but my it still looks beautiful.
@esapzai wo wrora unfortunately he is from Shangla.
@fzpz deforestation is an issue and there isn't enough infrastructure to help rebuild the forests...but the inner areas are very beautiful.
i was wondering about those trees there and lack of trees. would have been a lot of work to build those terraces. in those places it is all usually done by hand.

Reason: addition
when you start from Khwaza Khela and go up the road towards shangla pass, the top is beautiful...I crossed it on few occassions on way from Gilgit to Swat or Swat to Kaghan-Naran....
you will have to go in the summertime. i was in the himalayas for a couple of years. they look like this and they are divine. one of my favourite places is in the himilayas, manali in india. pure, clean water flowing in the rivers, lovely.
