  • 150 players get sports equipment in Ghor

CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): About 150 sportsmen were provided with sports equipment in four districts of western Ghor province, a senior official said on Tuesday.
The equipment, including shoes, uniform, armbands, gloves, balls and volleyball nets, were distributed to athletes in Saghar, Lal Wa Sarjang, Shahrak districts and the provincial capital, Chaghcharan, governor Syed Iqbal Munib, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The materials were aimed at promoting sports in the province, he said, adding sports could play a key role in preventing the youth from indulging in purposeless activities, including drug addiction.
Sportsmen in the province were facing numerous problems due to lack of grounds, said sports director, Amir Ahmad Ghori.
He said sportsmen in the province had been using unpaved ground.
The lack of proper grounds and other facilities were discoursing the youth to join sports, Fazal Ahmad, a member of the Azad Football Club, said, while complaining about their problems.
Provincial Olympic Committee spokesman, Mujeebullah Rahmani, said that an official team had been ordered to asses the problems facing sportsmen in the province. He said efforts were underway to provide sportsmen with necessary materials and playgrounds.
Sports officials say football, basketball, judo, taekwondo, karate, volleyball, cricket, cycling and swimming are being played in Ghor

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
