KABUL (Pajhwok): A new football stadium would be constructed in Qargha, a tourist location in Kabul, at the cost of $270 million, a statement from the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) said on Monday.
The construction of the stadium at the beautiful recreation area in Kabul had been communicated with football fans long back, the statement said.
According to Mozhda Jamalzada, an Afghan singer and civil society activists based in foreign country, 100 acres of land for the Stadium has been bought by her Foundation, and the fund was being accumulated to build Afghanistan’s first standard Stadium, and she wished to soon start construction work.
Mohammad Ali Klay, the world’s boxing myth who passed away few months ago, was one the biggest and well-known supporters of the Stadium. Mr. Mohib, Afghanistan Ambassador to the USA had announced his support and cooperation for this infrastructural project in Afghanistan in a meeting he had with Mr. Atta Amin.
Likewise, Mr. Amin who himself is a businessman, had so far attracted supports and funds from several external trading organizations for the construction of the Stadium. As said, Peroozi Stadium will have the capacity of 35 to 40 thousand spectators and it will be built in a standard way, and a well-equipped hospital may be erected besides the Stadium as well.
Qargha is a good place to host internal and external guests as it has standard roads leading to it and it has good places for sightseeing
