the entire idea of dragging a caracus across the field while riding on horses is a bit outdated and cringeworthy. What do you think our national game should be replaced with instead of buzkashi??

It's the ancient sport of the country, it has a lot of history behind it. I don't know what to replace it with.Originally posted by DaZahroJaam. Apart from the fact that it is inhumane, savage and creulty against animals, it is also haram from an islamic perspective.
In Islam even a dead animal is supposed to be treated with respect and dignity. The horses are also hurt during the game and the players strike each other with lashes.
The game stands as a symbol of all the backwardness, creulty and lack of humanity in our society. It is a perfect national sport in the sense that it depicts everything that is wrong in our culture and society.Originally posted by FirdousiNever talk with Afghans about politics. Allot of things need to change. They should stop hurtin horses, they should stop striking each other with whips and they should stop usin profanity and vulgar words while playing.
The game should show sportmanship, good character and high morals.Originally posted by FirdousiNever talk with Afghans about politics. All their political knowledge is limited to conspiracy theories, political demonization and contradictions. No logic, no reason.

screw history. sometimes we need to change things to the sake of present days and the future. how many youngsters get excited over this historic game on daily basis in the streets of afghanistan?? what do we get out of it's historical importance?? nothing.
we need something that excites our youth and sends the blood rushing through their veins. and while we are at it, screw the religious perspective too. i am talking about a sport, not a fatwa. stop seeing everything from that one lousy and narrow perspective.

Kashi Baz or Buz Kashi is not even a Pashtun game, it's a game that originated with Uzbeks if I'm not mistaken
Historically Pashtuns didn't play Buz Kashi until it was popularized by the Barikzai of Kabul who had winter palaces in the North of Afghanistan.
if you want an authentic Pashtun game I think torawali would be a good candidate. Pashtuns used to be amazing swordsmen. Our swords are legendary.
Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Our national dance "Attan" is Pashtun, our national poet khushal khan is pashtun, our anthem is in Pashto, our bank notes are in Pashto etc etc. It is not a bad idea to include some things from othe ethnicities to be fair.
Personally I would have preferred wrestling to be the national sport but that is already the national sport of Iran.

I think kushti/pahlawani is a Better national sport which trandscends cultural boundaries

Everyone in Afghanistan knows Wrestling and most people have experience of it, I don't mean WWE but the traditional Qushti/Pahlawani. It is a simple sport and you don't need any expensive equipment to play it so most Afghans can take part.Originally posted by Afghanfootballwhy wrestling?
It promotes manliness, strength, strategy etc so perfect national sport for Afghanistan.
