This time Brendon McCullum did not have a tricky decision to make as Graeme Smith won the toss and decided to bat in Port Elizabeth with South Africa aiming to maintain their superiority on this short series.
South Africa's one change was confirmed two days ago with Rory Kleinveldt, playing his first home Test, replacing the injured Vernon Philander who took 5 for 7 before lunch on the first day in Cape Town when New Zealand crumbled for 45.
New Zealand have brought in two fresh faces to their side. One was enforced with James Franklin ruled out through a hamstring injury and Colin Munro, the 25-year-old, will make his debut in the middle order. A Test career might also have ended with Chris Martin's omission in favour of left-armer Neil Wagner. Martin took three wickets at Newlands but with a younger crop of bowlers coming through it is difficult to see how he regains his place.
South Africa 1 Graeme Smith (capt), 2 Alviro Petersen, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 Jacques Kallis, 5 AB de Villiers (wk), 6 Dean Elgar, 7 Faf du Plessis, 8 Robin Peterson, 9 Rory Kleinveldt, 10 Dale Steyn, 11 Morne Morkel
New Zealand 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Brendon McCullum (capt), 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Dean Brownlie, 5 Daniel Flynn, 6 BJ Watling (wk), 7 Colin Munro, 8 Doug Bracewell, 9 Trent Boult, 10 Jeetan Patel, 11 Neil Wagner
