  • Openers put Bangladesh on course

25 overs Bangladesh 127 for 2 (Nasir 13*, Naeem 9*) need another 73 runs to beat West Indies 199

Bangladesh were on course for a comprehensive victory over West Indies in the first ODI in Khulna. Having bowled the visitors out for 199, Bangladesh approached the chase positively with their best batsman Tamim Iqbal leading the way with an attacking half-century. He was supported by Anamul Haque in an important opening stand that set the tone for the innings and set an excellent platform for what should be a comfortable chase.
A naturally aggressive batsman, Tamim's intent was evident as early as the first over during which he charged out to Marlon Samuels to dispatch him past mid-off. His partner Anamul, on debut, chose to drop anchor, while Tamim was free-flowing in his shot-making. He drove Ravi Rampaul on either side of the wicket, smashed Samuels for a six over extra cover and tore into Kemar Roach. He didn't hesitate to step out to the seamers either, and Roach, whom he took for 16 in one over, was slammed over extra cover for a flat six that took Tamim to his half-century.
Anamul was more subdued; he didn't move his feet much unlike Tamim, but was harsh on deliveries that were pitched short and gave him enough room. He slashed Rampaul and Roach through point and grew confident to drive Sunil Narine through the covers. By the time Tamim cut Narine to offer a catch to point, Bangladesh had raced to 88 in 15 overs. Anamul added a further 24 with Naeem Islam, even going over the top of mid-on against Darren Sammy before top-edging a pull next ball to be caught and bowled. The game was still with Bangladesh, unless they had failed to learn from West Indies' own self-destructive tendencies in the first innings.
Bismillah, alhamdulillah, all praises due to Allah and may Allah increase the honor of Prophet Muhammad and protect our nation from any harm.

After defeats in both Tests, we have won a resounding victotory in the first ODI. That too minus Sakib.
