England won the toss and decided to bowl against South Africa
Ravi Bopara has finally paid for his awful form with the bat after being left out of the second Twenty20 at Old Trafford with his place taken by Luke Wright who will bat at No. 3. England will bowl first after Stuart Broad won the toss with a strong chance of rain having an impact on the game.
The home side, though, have resisted the temptation to tinker with the main part of their bowling attack to try and fit Danny Briggs, the left-arm spinner, into the line-up on a surface that offered some turn during the women's match earlier in the day.
South Africa, meanwhile, have made two changes with Hashim Amla returning in place of the out-of-form Faf du Plessis while Morne Morkel comes in for Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
The toss was delayed by 10 minutes and there is a large band of rain sweeping across the country which could yet arrive during play.
England 1 Alastair Cook, 2 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 3 Luke Wright, 4 Eoin Morgan, 5 Jonny Bairstow, 6 Jos Buttler, 7 Samit Patel, 8 Stuart Broad (capt), 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Steven Finn, 11 Jade Dernbach
South Africa 1 Richard Levi, 2 Jacques Kallis, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 AB de Villiers (capt & wk), 5 JP Duminy, 6 Justin Ontong, 7 Albie Morkel, 8 Johan Botha, 9 Robin Peterson, 10 Dale Steyn, 11 Morne Morkel
