Toss Australia chose to bat v Pakistan
Michael Clarke won the toss and not surprisingly chose to bat in the 40C Abu Dhabi heat as Australia aimed to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The Australians made no changes to the side that won the first match, but Pakistan were forced to leave Shahid Afridi out due to a back injury sustained during training.
Afridi was replaced by the spinner Abdur Rehman, while the left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan was also brought in to replace Aiziz Cheema. Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, said he was hoping for more of a contribution from the fast bowlers in this match after the spinners - Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Hafeez and Afridi - took all six wickets in the first game.
"They [the spinners] have been really doing well for Pakistan the last couple of years," Misbah said at the toss. "We always depend on them. We're looking forward in this game for the pacers to chip in so it can make the job easier for us."
Clarke said he expected more assistance for the fast men in Abu Dhabi compared to Sharjah. "I think the fast bowlers will play a big part on this wicket," Clarke said. "I think this wicket will have a little bit more pace than Sharjah. But we're going to need everybody to contribute, that's for sure."
