With one third of humanity involved have you ever heard any leader anywhere seeking a reschedule by about two weeks to avoid a clash with Ramadhan? Not only the participants but the spectators are also to be affected.

Given how weak Muslims are, I'm not surprised.

about ~ 15 percent of all students in the NYC public schools system are Muslims, yet not a single school day is reserved for a Muslim holiday. Let alone the Olympics.

With the rising influx of Bengalis in NY, hopefully it changes.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

In fact, some sources now list the percentage as about 25%. That implies a quarter of all NYC public school students are Muslims, yet Eid is not a day off.

Also, to be fair, New Jersey and Michigan have added the two Eid's as Holidays.

It's not a day off here either but people just don't come to school anyway. It gets marked down as an authorised absence.

I don't see why they should be making it a holiday - unless they have already done so with other religious celebrations.

I hate the logo of the London olympics.
The only reason i'd be watching the olympics is because Afghanistan would be playing otherwise I couldn't give a monkeys like lots of other Londoners. It just means more traffic delays for us.
