  • Unchanged Zimbabwe elect to bat

Toss Zimbabwe chose to bat v South Africa

In keeping with the trend of teams opting to set targets, rather than opting to chase, Zimbabwe decided to bat first in the third match of the tri-series in Harare. On a pitch that tends to get slower as the match goes on, Brendan Taylor hoped to put South Africa's attack under pressure first up, after they put in an untidy performance in the field in their win over Bangladesh yesterday.
Despite the lapses with the ball, South Africa made no changes to their starting XI. Wayne Parnell will need to put in an improved performance after persisting with a line that was too short and giving away numerous extras. Marchant de Lange, Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Albie Morkel will all want to tighten up too.
Zimbabwe also stuck to the same team that beat Bangladesh in the tournament opener on Sunday. Players to watch are Hamilton Masakadza who is enjoying a fine run of form, having scored a century in the warm-up game and a half-century two days ago. The bowling was particularly strong, with Kyle Jarvis and Richard Muzhange making good use of yorkers and the spinners doing a good strangling job against Bangladesh.
Both South Africa and Zimbabwe won their first matches against Bangladesh and are unbeaten going into this match.
Zimbabwe: 1 Hamilton Masakadza 2 Vusi Sibanda, 3 Brendan Taylor (capt & wk), 4 Craig Ervine, 5 Staurt Matsikenyeri, 6 Elton Chigumbura, 7 Graeme Cremer, 8 Prosper Utseya, 9 Kyle Jarvis, 10 Chris Mpofu, 11 Richard Muzhange
South Africa: 1 Hashim Amla (capt), 2 Richard Levi, 3 Colin Ingram, 4 JP Duminy, 5 Justin Ontong, 6 Albie Morkel, 7 Robin Peterson, 8 Dane Vilas (wk), 9 Wayne Parnell, 10 Marchant de Lange, 11 Lonwabo Tsotsobe
Bismillah, alhamdulillah, all praises due to Allah and may Allah increase the honor of Prophet Muhammad and protect our nation from any harm.
