  • Jayawardene, Malinga rested; Pakistan bat

Sri Lanka rested two match-winners, Mahela Jayawardene and Lasith Malinga, for the second Twenty20 in Hambantota and replaced them with Chamara Kapugedera and Isuru Udana. The stand-in captain Angelo Mathews said the changes were because the selectors wanted to try different players ahead of the World Twenty20. He lost the toss, though, and Mohammad Hafeez chose to bat in a bid to square the two-match series.
Pakistan made only one change, leaving out Umar Gul, who went for 43 runs in the first match, and bringing in Yasir Arafat. There was no change in the batting order, though it had collapsed in the first game. "The pitch doesn't allow you to play fancy shots, you have to play technical shots," Hafeez said at the toss. "We had a meeting yesterday about it."
The weather in Hambantota is fair and a larger crowd is expected because Monday is a public holiday.
