An outstanding spell of reverse swing from Tim Bresnan put England in sight of a series-clinching victory at Trent Bridge as they plucked out six West Indies wickets during a dramatic final session on the third day. Having been made to work hard for a lead of 58 that advantage grew significantly as it took the visitors four wickets to erase the deficit, including the vital loss of Shivnarine Chanderpaul who was caught at long leg hooking.
Bresnan, who claimed all his wickets lbw, started by trapped Darren Bravo then burst through Denesh Ramdin and an ill Kirk Edwards in the space of three balls in the penultimate over of the day. West Indies closed just three ahead with the only glimmer being that there two first-innings century-makers, Marlon Samuels and Darren Sammy, remain at the crease.
