ANOC selects national sand volleyball
team
KABUL: Afghanistan National Olympic Committee (ANOC) spokesman said
that for the first time they have selected 8 players for national sand
volleyball team among 14 various provinces’ teams through a competition
here in Kabul on Monday.
Mujeebullah Rahmani, spokesman for ANOC revealed to Afghanistan Times
that they have launched sand volleyball tournament competition in Kabul to
select best players for national sand volleyball team.
He added, in these competitions10 teams from Kabul, 4 from Jawzjan,
Balkh, Nangarhar and Khost provinces have taken part, in result of wchit 8
players among 14 teams have been selected for national team.
The spokesman hinted that earlier there was no concept of sand volleyball
team in Afghanistan.
He point out that 4 players out of 8 will be practicing in Kabul to get ready
for international competitions and 4 others will joined the team as reserve
players.
Beach volleyball game is played in sand ground in which each team has two
players.
The Deputy of Volleyball Federation, Mr Bakhatawar Shah stated at the
ceremony that the sand volleyball game has faintly developed, but still
more time is needed for the improvement and development of players’ skills
in capital as well in provinces.
The participants appreciated sand volleyball tournament competitions while
demanding ANOC to work for the improvement and development of this
sport across the country because such kind of games can bring positive
changes in development of sports overall.
