My father was a soccer player for his high school team in inner city Kabul.

soccer in Afghanistan was always popular.

My father used to tell me how between the afternoon and maghrib time, he and all the boys would be out and about playing soccer.

I heard my father was really good too

Still today from what i witnessed, there are many open fields where they play soccer after school for hours.

Laila in Afghanistan the kids used to play soccer?

Yeah they play it like crazy. From the time they get out of school, till its time for sunset, the play all day long. There are a few stadiums in inner city Kabul and plenty of open fields.

Students go to school 6 days a week. The only day they have off is Friday, for Jumah. I didnt see too much soccer activity between 12-2 pm on Jumah days. Well towards respect of Jumah prayer.

My father told me, soccer has always been a big sport in Afghanistan.
