  • Wala ye mohajir da

Have you ever been called mohajir during your stay in Pakistan?
There is a pashto proverb in our area that " wala ye mohajir da" which is use when you meant "dont hesitate in doing it"

Just like "p@ki" it is very offensive term and afghans dont feel right when u call them mohajirs.

Usage of this term by pashtuns in pakistan is showing that unfortunately some distance has been created between us.

I have been living in Karachi for almost fifteen years and have never heard Pakistanis calling Afghans as Muhajirs. Muhajir is usually used for Urdu-speaking Karachiites here.

Though, we Afghans are called by other names in Karachi and Hyderabad, like: Kako and Kabalian. Non-Pashtuns call us just Pathan.

What is the purpose of this thread?? What do we mean to achieve by the end of it?? Or is this one of those extremely useless threads where we go on and on in a pointless direction until one of us steps in the other's ego and a never ending verbal pissing contest begins??

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Kabulyan is a curse in Pakistan.
Peshawri, Pachassey (that´s how Peshawris call a 50-Kaldaar bank note), Heera Mendi etc. are curse words in Afghanistan.

Everyone associates their bad memories or experiences with a region, a people or a culture and generalizes.

I guess it´s too hard to look at the individual and blaim the culprits, atleast harder than simplifying emotions by creating racial, regional or religious resentiments.
            The only constant is change.

Ive never heard it as a curse though, but since on pf i understand how sensitive some people have become to the phrase, so I avoid it. But in kpk its used in every day speech . But I know for sure that the term mohajir is something that afghans take offence to in kpk that's why its not used so much as it once was as afghans are no longer migrants but have intergrated and have everyday jobs in kpk.

and honestly, saying something like heera mandi to a peshawari to try and label them will only raise a quizzical eye brow and a "wtf look" as the average peshawari doesnt even know what it means to even be insulted. Also, to those that do know, they know it cannot be ever be construed as an insult as every insult has to have some truth to it, but heera mandi is full of punjabees unless someone knows otherwise.
