Admin Khana ... I just read this one. I understand you perfectly ... your Pashto is wonderful and it is music to my ears . Just wonder if you understand my Northern utterings??

... I listen to the context of the conversation to help me work out new pronunciations or vocabulary ... when I speak with one of my really good friends from Khost (family living in Logar), I follow their familiar vocabulary and use it to make myself clear back to him ... I find the language very accessible.

The dialect I have had most 'difficulty' with is Wazirwola. In the UAE the taxis were dominated by folk from Waziristan and on occasions I had to switch to Urdu to be understood.

Khushal khana, i am sure you have seen how many people can claim the lineage. However, no one can see if they are legit or not. The thing is, when the Sayeds of other places came to Afghanistan, they basically split up in different groups for their mission and spread around in different areas of Afghanistan. Sayeds are not ethnically Pashtuns. They do not belong to a Pashtun qawm. Many have been living with Pashtuns for so long, they are assimilated into that culture.
