  • Afghanistan Wild Life!

I know we have members from all provinces here and I would like to know about what kind of animals do we have in that particular province?
I am an animal lover and any kind of info or picture would be really appreciated.
    Thanks

    This is what I know

There are snow leopards, wild sheep (don't know the proper name), wild camels (with two humps), bears, deers, yaks and wolves in Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan, Badakhshan, Wakhan and other cold mountainous places.

There are many types of birds.

No monkey species live in Afghanistan.

and Bande Amir is Afghanistan's only national park.

those camels are called Bactrian camels, I am glad we have them in its homeland.

Im sure about yaks i've seen (and eaten) them in Wakhan, Pamir. Most are wild but Kyrgyz and Wakhi people also keep them as livestock. There used to be cheetahs and tigers in lowland Afghanistan before the 20th century. If there are monkeys in Afghanistan they're probably rhesus monkeys.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

              Thanks Admin khan
so i have heard rumors about a lion shot dead in Kunar by US forces? anyone know that?
I dont think we have lions that could live in a mountinous area like Kunar and noristan.
maybe it was a mountain lion.
