tor_khan,
The people of Pashtunkhwa (north and south) celebrate Akhtar a day before Pakistan. There are geographic reasons for this. This has become a bit of a joke for Pakistanis. They think of Pashtuns are simpletons who are always in a hurry. They also say that Pashtuns have no patience when it comes to anything, including sex. So they combine everything and say:Originally posted by tor_khan View PostEven in Pakistan, it's not a collective story. Varying factions go for Eid separately. Peshawar is often out of sync with the rest of the country. But across the country, people want to celebrate Eid with their families, and I have known people in Pindi celebrating Eid on the day that Peshawar has declared Eid whilst everyone else was fasting. Across the country the sad thing is they can't even get together behind each other for Eid - Palwasha - living in England, you'll know how for you it might be Eid, but for your neighbours, they are waiting for news to come from Pakistan or their Grand Pir (a day later). Hardly a model example.
"ha ha ha, yes they're celebrating it a day before because they can't control it. Ha ha Pakistan won the 20-20 World Cup but it was celebrated in Peshawar a day before ha ha. Get it?"
The general perception in Pakistan is that stupid Pashtuns celebrate Eid on the last day of Ramzan. Bewakuf Pathans. When will they learn? It's mocked as the "Pathano wali Eid"/The Pashtuns' Eid.
Yes. The natural boundary between India and the rest of Asia is Pashtunkhwa, not Wagah.Originally posted by tor_khan View PostIndia and Pakistan together tend to agree on Eid and this perhaps describes more about shared roots of most the Muslims therein.
Perhaps we should have a thread on Pakistan-India relations. I'm a self-proclaimed expert on the matter. The mock display of aggression at Wagah is a peacock dance ... the Panjabee Sikhs in their uniforms, the Panjabee Muslims in theirs. They are the same people you know, right down to how they wear their beards. In fact one day they could get up to mischief, swap uniforms and no-one would know the difference.

Pashtuns not celebrating Eid with the rest of Pakistan is a frustrating issue for a lot of patriotic Pakistanis. On average we have three eids in KP: Afghan refugees celebrate it with Afghanistan (first day); Pakistani patriotic Pashtuns celebrate it with the rest of the Pakistan (3rd day); and the rest of the Pashtuns (including me) celebrate it on second day or any other day when Pakistan is not celebrating, lol.
Precisely! Hence our countless referendums by celebrating eid on a different day than the rest of the Pakistan. Even our kallay moollah says that Mufti Muneeb ur rehman is Pakistani Moon spotter who does the moonsighting with sayeence (science) and hence not authentic evidence. I agree with him, lolOriginally posted by Levanaye Zalmaye View PostYes. The natural boundary between India and the rest of Asia is Pashtunkhwa, not Wagah.
