i have an openly atheist friend. he is the smartest guy out there. the difference between him and other atheist are that he doesn't he is very interested in learning about all of the religions and he never insults any individual based on their religious beliefs.
i don't have any gay friends but i have nothing against them.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

The very act of being an atheist or homo-sexual is an insult to Islam.

just because you find it an entertaining idea to yourself to mock other religions doesn't mean you are an atheist. most self proclaimed atheists don't even know what they are talking about.
when you don't believe in something you don't go out of your way to insult or argue against it.

One is a pure act of rejecting the creator and the other is a sin....so Muti saiba da tsa waee. By your logic, fornication is an insult to islam, missing prayers is an insult, rejecting tauheed is an insult.
I suggest you make multiple threads for that as well [sarcasm incase you didn't notice]

It's a bad idea to even allow any acceptance of either one of these types into one's life in any form. Or Forum!

As soon as someone finds out a person is either one of these horrible sins, I believe they should never speak to the person again and absolutely shun them.

Sound strict? It's for the good of the soul, not to win popularity contests for being "cool". God is watching every person's every thought, word and deed.
My idea is don't even THINK about these people !

It may cause waves of hostility momentarily. But think of your everlasting life, who do you want to be with? Gays and atheists? Fine, then associate with them now and give them your permission to be however they decided they want to be to mock God.

Want to be in Jannat with the best souls? Then be strict today about who you choose as company and who you condone by your actions and words.

L.Z. you goofed the Russian composer. They trained you poorly in Russian culture at the KGB academy at Yasenevo!
It's Tchaikovsky who was gay. When I learned that it is generally thought, though maybe not proven, I got rid of every recording of his and would never listen to even supposedly innocent Christmas music of his. I get angry when people suggest him as a great composer. No thanks.

You insulted my favorite composer in the world almost, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
I had a very short visit to St Petersburg where he lived. I skipped all the tourist stuff related to Peter the Terrible and instead went to religious shrines [St John of Kronstadt, St Xenia of St Petersburg, etc.] and specially made time to visit his apartment which is still in existence. He was a happy family man, tellingly.
Thus heavenly music was given through this genius because he was more pure. He had Middle Eastern themes like Scheherezade, as well as religious ones "Russian Easter Overture". He was a spiritual man and emotionally well-balanced.

Spiritual people are NEVER EITHER atheists nor homosexuals.

So right there that proves that if someone CARES about true spirituality they will never have anything to do with either group.

No! Rimsky-Korsakov was maybe one of the most devout among the Russian composers. That group IS among the absolute best in the classical music world.
Russians really have musical talent. Let's say, 19th century and very early 20th century, pre-Bolshevik composers.

Scheherezade was how I found him. I used to listen that over and over as it's so much fun.

Then so many of the rest of Rimsky-Korsakov's pieces are based on the Russian Church calendar Feasts. That's what Russian Easter Overture is about, the day called Pascha, Easter, which is their biggest holiday of the year.

My real favorite too, is the little-known, little-performed "Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh" - listen to it if you're at all interested. It's really mystical and based on a combination of Russian folklore and religion.

He was as I recall a Church-attending BELIEVER.
Other Russian composers were more nominal believers. Though they did turn out nice music like Borodin "Steppes of Central Asia" for example. Or "Caucasian Sketches" by Ippolitov-Ivanov.

The Russians were fascinated by Middle Eastern themes and brought those areas alive for the world by their music and poetry.

There was a really nice atmosphere STILL lingering in the Rimsky-Korsakov family flat. That, despite the bleak decades of Communism. So that says a lot about the force of his good character. I brought back a whole book about his life there from a neighboring bookstore.

Oh Catya Jaan! It's such a misery to see that you've turned into an extremist as well! The only difference between you and the Muslim extremists around here is that they're Muslims and you're not. And guess what :S It's not just atheism that these extremist are against; they're against people of all religions EXCEPT Islam! So please watch your back. Siding with them because they agree with you that belief in God is mandatory for life isn't gonna help you when the time comes for them to declare you a resident of hell, someone who's gonna go to hell solely on the basis of your religion or lack of belief in the version of Islam that is shoved down these hopeless souls' throats, the brand of Islam that their miserable souls are stuffed with.

Wait a tiny bit while for Samin to tell you that YOU, a non-Muslim, should not be tolerated here either. (Of course, his views aren't shared by the majority of Pashtuns, and you know this yourself from being on PF. But I'm just reminding you that this person who's hating on atheists and homosexuals is equally intolerant of you according to his first post in the introduction thread he created for joining us.)

At the topic ... What a joke. Believe me, Samin gula, the more you try to shove us back into the caves of ignorance where you were born and bred, the more we're gonna resist your backwardness and fight for our rights to freedom, religion (or lack of it), thought, reason, goodness, tolerance, peace, and everything good that all humans deserve for being humans. Thank you for strengthening our identities for what they are.

Peace be with you and the rest of us!

I think Catya is pretty new to know what she was before .. no one has really discussed something like this yet.

Anyways Samim ... think about it this way, you dislike them right? No ones asking you to like them because they exist...

I say, be a role model, show people what is right (at least what you think is right).. don't just tell everyone else their wrong, because I doubt anyone will listen...

And not allowing people here because they have a certain believe or an idea, would eliminate a lot of people, because a lot of us disagree about different matters...

Just because someone does not believe in your views does not makes them an extremist. The fact that you believe homosexuals should have rights is as extreme for many people as US rejecting it. Just my thought on the matter and i think i am on the list of PF extremists.

Actually, no. I don't define extremism as disagreing with my views. That's silly. You should read more of my posts here if you think that (not that I'm concerned that you don't understand them, of course; that's okay with me -- but I choose to clarify my stance).

Neither do I define it as accepting or respecting atheists or homosexuals or others who are not accepted in our communities. But I've read many, many of Catya's posts in the Religion and Politics sections, and my comment was more referring to my overall opinion of her views -- which happen to be just as extremist as the views of the extremist Muslims around here. Now, I find nothing necessarily wrong with that. In fact, I find it very, VERY interesting because it proves that it's not just Pukhtuns or Muslims who are or can be extremists but non-Muslims and non-Pukhtuns can be equally extremist, equally intolerant of people whose lifestyle is not accepted as natural or real or correct. I'm fond of diversity of all kinds, so the more different perspectives we have on board, the more we get to learn -- about others and ourselves.

Peace be with you and the rest of us!
