  • How long have you been using the internet and online forums?

Pashtun forums has been around for only 7-8 years it seems.Online discussion forums as a whole exist since the 1990s.
I thought it would be interesting to share how long we have been using the internet particularly forums.
When did you create your first email?
When did you first join any forum?
Does any one know when the first forum related to Afghanistan / Pashtuns came about?
Gupshup forums , based in Pakistan , has been around since the late 90s.

As for me , I am a latecomer to the internet.I created my first email around '06-'07. Made a facebook account in 2012/13.
I joined my first online discussion group ,Pashtun Forums in 2013.

I first started using the internet sometime in the mid ‘90s. I think I visited my first forum around ‘99, but didn’t post anything until like 2001. I made my first email account around 2000.

I’ve been on the internet for a while lol.

In mid 90s I had seen computers but had absolutely no idea how to use one LOL.Back then I probably heard the term internet but was clueless about its finer details.

I've been using internet since I was a kid when Windows 95 first came out. I think I first registered on YaNabi forum in the early 2000s.

YaNabi was the Brelwi forum right? I haven’t heard that name in a long time.

Yes, I believe it's still in existence. Those were some of my first religious debates online with another sect.

A lot of us come from now defunct forums like Afghansite or Afghan-Web, AfghanForums, Chaikhana etc etc. I've known many people here in the "cyber world" for years.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Too long... Internet, at least. Not forums. I probably spent more time on chat, than actual forums.

The first time I used the internet was in 1997, with a 14.4K dial up modem.

Any idea when the first of these forums (afghan/pashtun) came into being?

I have used dialup modems , they are so slow.

I think Afghan-web was the first, they still have the same Skin they were using in year 2000 lol
