The Kite Runner is an example of historical fiction, while the Lord of the Rings falls under the genre of fantasy. Big difference and not at all comparable for you to make the point you are trying to make.Last edited by ذو الفقار; 10-31-2017, 04:43 AM.My Blog

Historical fiction just means the time period was accurate as far as backdrop, not that the events are accurately portrayed lolOriginally posted by ذو الفقار View PostThe Kite Runner is an example of historical fiction, while the Lord of the Rings falls under the genre of fantasy. maneatinglizard this guy WANTS to believe in the kiterunner ..he's got subliminal gay fantasies, typical desi.
Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

lol He desperately wants to believe it's all true ...like other Indics, he has a creepy fixation for Afghans and probably hopes a studly Afghan man can make him a bacha.Originally posted by maneatinglizard View PostElves are cool creatures. What, you don't believe in them?
I guess you've never read The Lord of the Rings. Great books (and movies too).

In both cases the events are fiction. You citing fiction as evidence for your claims about Afghan culture just shows how ignorant you are. You don't actually know anything about Afghanistan, but insist on coming here and telling us about it.Originally posted by ذو الفقار View PostThe Kite Runner is an example of historical fiction, while the Lord of the Rings falls under the genre of fantasy. You have no connection to Afghanistan, and your knowledge of it is pretty much pop culture trivia. Maybe you should stick to defense.pk or some other Indic forum, because whatever plan you came here for isn't working out.

In historical fiction, the story itself including characters may be fictional, but according to Encyclopedia Britannica:Originally posted by maneatinglizard View PostIn both cases the events are fiction. For those of you who think I'm some kind of Pakistani or Punjabi nationalist, check out this thread on Pakistan Defence Forum:

Hmm guess what? I was banned once again from Pakistan Defence forum. It wasn't even a single day before they decided to ban me. All I did was criticize the Pakistani military establishment and criticize nationalism and democracy. Those Pakis I tell you, they simply cannot handle being challenged intellectually. At least you Afghans aren't that insecure or stupid. My Blog

Thats very wrong. Do you know Game Of Thrones is Historical Fiction? It's complete fiction, nothing about it is real(except maybe war, just like billion other movies).
So if I make my own Historical Fiction, I can set it up to suit any agenda or maybe purely my own thoughts about the unrecorded/unknown Historical era/event.
