  • Interesting documentary about drug culture among Pashtuns

Even though the documentary is a little condescending at times, nonetheless it contains some rare footage and interesting facts. In part 4, the Talib guy says Bin Laden was one of their main clients for opium.

Interesting find... but it's a lot closer to a biography of the guy who made the film, and Afghanistan's culture and daily life. Very little actual info on the Hashish thing.

This guy narrating the story is a bull**** artist, so many factual inaccuracies in his narrating.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

First 10 minutes in and they can't tie a turban properly, the narrator claims there are 5 "tribes" in Afghanistan (Pashtun, Hazara, Turkmen, Baloch, Uzbek), and thinks that Pashtuns are largely nomadic and sleep on rocks.

Edit: Another minute in and he claims that the Quran says that a person who drinks beer should be torn apart by a crowd and thrown into trees for birds to eat. I think I'm not going to bother with the rest, lol.

And is it me or did he steal most (all?) of the footage from professional documentaries?

Ive never heard of a mullah smoking hash and then he says they cant marry like a catholic priest. The fact is that the mullahs are the only ones preaching against it. The way he talks, it seems like he has never been to Afghanistan and if he did, he went to smoke hash which was why Europeans and Americans went there back in the 70's and then going to Eastern Europe for mail order brides with 40 years age difference which is what this guy did too.

          Its pure bullshyt.
