I am not a Sufi myself, but I respect Sufism. Sufism was a movement to bring ignorant and simple people towards Islam.

A lot of poetry that Rumi wrote was regarded as perverse, but nobody knew his intention. His poetry was pro-Islam, but in a very convoluted way that mainstream Sunnis consider him a kaafir. Most of the ****ed things he wrote were not advocating haram activities, but similes he employed to make a point. Simple people will look at his works as haram, but it takes some mental initiative to understand what he was trying to say.

When he would say 'drink wine', I'm paraphrasing here, but it never literally meant drink alcohol. He was using simile to compare a stupefied state of pleasure or intoxication to worshipping your creator or Allah swt.

Sadly, Muslims today are not capable beyond thinking of religious texts and deem his poetry as haram/blasphemy ect. ect.

Islam never forbid anyone from thinking and using their brain, In fact It was encouraged.

Some could argue and say, why did he need to pervert the message just to get it across? That is also a fair and valid question, but to automatically write
his teachings off as kaafir material is ignorance in it self.

Why would anyone write poems about haram stuff?

Suppose a guy writes a verse about kissing another guys lips. Are you going to say you dont judge his intentions or are you going to say this person is perverted homofagget who is gay?

Now you are being deliberately stupid. I proved to you that humanism and rationalism are not merely Western phenomenons but they rather existed and were developed in the Islamic word many centuries before Westerners. Mutazila and insanyat.

You lost then and you are losing here once again.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

The Mu'tazillah had their short comings, they weren't "humanists" by any stretch, but they got one thing right: the importance of rationality and applying reason to address problems.

Since when? Western Humanism, doesn't define humanism. This is imperialist talk.

Mutualizes were rationalists. Thats enough for me. It proves that rationalism can exist in an Islamic context which seems unacceptable for a person like Shamlawar.

Western humanism doesn't even exist. The West developed Secular Humanism, which rejects religion and faith. We Muslims need to develop our own Islamic humanism. A modern Islamic society in where our Islamic conservative values can coexist with rationalism, science, technology, intellectualism, philosophy and so on.

Well you know why right? Because rationalism is a threat. The sort of Demogogy that fuels the worldview that Modern Kharijites endorse would is afraid of critical thinking.

No one with any shred of critical thinking will jive with this hyper emphasis of beard length and rolling your pant legs up. This isn't the Islam I was taught and not something I'll ever endorse. The Islam was I taught was about enriching life with deeper truths about who we are as humans and our role in the universe at large.

Yeah! He wrote a poem about how he wanted kiss Shams Tabrizi's lips. George Micheal had more decency than that.

Unfortunately rumi in america has been hijacked by liberal hilybilliy tree huggers, these are people with no objective standards and just go with the wind wherever their desires takes them, Unfortunately This will be another fitnah of our time with the emergence of 'angloIslam' which will basically be another perversion of the faith, with luminous voices coming from so called 'Muslim feminist' gay imams, women leading prayers, legislation of riba. rejection of hadith etc, basically people who have taken their desires to be God.

All ignorant brown kids who don't know anything about Islam start reading Western orientalist books about Islam where defunct school of Mutazila is glorified. Because mutazila used Greek philosophy so they we're influenced by Western thought.

These self loathing brown kids with zero knowledge about Islam read those books and pretend to know Islam better than anyone else.

Orientalists generally try to discredit Muslim history, say Muslims just blindly copied things from the Greeks and didn't make any unque achievements of their own.

you have no idea what you're saying.
