Wealth in our terms can be rather subjective. However, conventionally, people that have the monopoly over the apparels trade in peshawar and other large cities like kabul seem to have accumulated the most wealth. However, they don't how to use it, in conventional terms ofcourse. Being a rich Pashtun there, its cool if you roll in 'ghwagai' toyotas from japan. Apart from this, smuggling is also quite lucrative. :D . Hope this helped. Manana. P.s. the mian-gan of swat (mingora) are fabulously rich, since they have the monopoly in the gemstones, pashmina shawls business (proximity wise atleast)Originally posted by Shapur View PostAnyone know?Last edited by ZarakDurrani606; 03-26-2017, 02:46 AM.

The most corrupt Pashtuns have amassed most of the wealth. Very few honest businessmen can compete with the war profiteers in wealth.Originally posted by FirdousiNever talk with Afghans about politics. All their political knowledge is limited to conspiracy theories, political demonization and contradictions. No logic, no reason.

The one's who were shrewd, connected, at the right place at the right time:
distributor of fuel, iron, cement
distributors of war machinery
bureaucrats who monitor foreign aid/investment
and the bad asses at hairatan, spin boldak, torkham
this applies to other current hotspots:
Syria/Iraq/Turkey/Yemen/DRC/Chad/Myanmar/UkraineLast edited by torkham; 03-28-2017, 04:05 AM.

Would be quite interesting to know who the richest Pakhtun is. The richest Pakhtun I know owns a ÂŁ6 million house in Knightsbridge, he also owns quite a few properties in Brisbane. We met in the most peculiar of circumstances.----------

Safi family from Herat (owners of Safi Airways) is the richest Pashtun family in Herat and I guess one of the richest in Afghanistan."For thirty years, I endured much pain and strife,

By richest Pakhtuns if you want names of specific individuals , well that is different.
But generally speaking , as pointed out before , those tribes and families that indulge in trade(that includes illegal business also ) are pretty well-off.
The foremost of those would be Afridi and Shinwari as the trade route through Torkham is big money and it falls under their jurisdiction.

I was asking about rich individuals or families by their networth.
The only Pashtun Billionaire in US dollars from Afghanistan is the owner of Alokozay Group. The owner of Safi Airlines may also be a billionaire but not sure.
Anyone how much is the owner of Peshawar Zalmi Jawed Afridi worth and Ayub Afridi?
There was also a rich Pashtun businessman from Nokhar but forgot his name.

The Saifullahs of Lakki Marwat are not just richest Pakhtuns, they are among richest Pakistanis (counted among 22 or 52 khandans of Pakistan who are said to own 80% wealth of Pakistan).......there are extremely rich people in every part of Pakhtunkhwa who don't reveal their actual wealth.......many purely acquire their wealth through criminal and illegal means e.g Afridi drug lordsLast edited by Samandri; 03-31-2017, 08:55 PM.

We forget the Nasher family are also quite wealthy .....
Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."
