where do they get these beliefs from or is it just to scare kids into doing stuff, they want?

it's called sleep paralysis, some part of your brain is conscious but those responsible for muscle movement still sleeping , some thing like that thing

lol, actually these are small satans and children of devils like iblis efretzi, who will start prying to the big satan

some are invented to scare children, other have logical reasons, some are adopted from other religions, and traditions. all of them become part of folklore
