He wouldn't go through the trouble of declaring himself a homosexual in an Afghan society if he were interested in "western suitors". He is intelligent so he probably knows that. His partner is some Afghan Muslim of high position or maybe a public figure who admires him for his "courage" to publicaly announce his sexuality while he himself is unable to do so. If we are talking about normal variants - e.g. green eyes vs blue eyes vs brown eyes where you could take every member that has that trait (e.g. everyone with brown eyes) and isolate them on an island and take a look 1000 years later - you would potentially have progeny from that colony because its a normal variant functionally.

The issue under disagreement is whether gay is a normal variant... by the way we define pathology, it cannot be so because putting 60 pure gay males and 50 pure gay females on a colony would render it extinct in one generation... unless conscious decisions were made to procreate.

So then some point toward a sort of spectrum of sexuality and say that it wouldn't be fair to put all hetero sexual beings in one bracket and gays in another - i.e. it is actually pure gay on one end and pure heterosexual on the other end of a spectrum...

But this often is not really the claim made by these people. They lay claim to the polar end of the spectrum because there truly is a gay entertainment mafia that rewards those that take up this mantle and punishes those that speak out against it and ironically they end up proving the point:

Finally, its a structural issue too. The male organ and its genetic material slightly acidic carrier fluid is actually ideally designed to counteract the basic environment of the vaginal vault. This is essentially my problem with even engaging in this discussion. If you bring up a biological conversation and decide to play it out to its complete conclusions - suddenly the extremist group on the left side of the spectrum realizes that it has limited ground to stand upon ---> this then forces them to shout the term homophobe and turn the discussion into one of ethical choice of folks to do whatever it is that they want in their private lives. Well, that in and of itself then relegates the discussion to what exactly societies are willing to define as their ethical and socio-religious boundaries and it then becomes obvious that their claim is semi religious and stakes out a position that societies world round must bend to their social standard. That then puts them on very very shaky ethical ground. I don't get the big hate on homosexuals, even though as a straight guy, I find gays and homosexuality repulsive. OF course it must suck as a parent if your offspring is gay, as that means your genetic line is set to to go extinct (at least naturally, nowadays they can artificially inseminate a woman/surrogate/egg donor)...but from a personal egoistical point of view, I wish more men were gay as that would mean more women for me to enjoy... If half the male population is gay, it means the other straight half has less competition for women. I would love to live in a world where straight men are minority, and women compete for my attention, rather than the other way around lol. and let's be honest, why would any straight man have a problem with this lool?
