What is the purpose of this thread? Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course but that's all it is, Rushdi's opinion. He said there is no life in Pakistan. I disagree, Pakistan is very vibrant and full of life. Ofcourse being an Islamic country you will not find the same so called freedoms as you would in India but overall I would say Pakistan doesn't suck, its politicians and rulers suck but the people are awesome.

He find Pakistan 'gangster-ized society' but the city he is talking about has "Indian population" from India, and India itself is plagued with gangs and mafias.....India also has also political corruption and so on......

The real reason Pakistan sucks for him, is because blasphemer like him can get away with blasphemy in Hindu majority country of India but not in Pakistan..;....

Without defending Pakistan; much of his claims regarding the dysfunctionality of Pakistani society is correct

But his counterpoint where he exonerates India is completely disingenuous. In almost all of his talking points India has all the equivalent vices and short comings and in some cases more so, especially when it comes to AIDS. The over arching narrative he was trying to portray is that India is great and vibrant, because it isn't Muslim, Pakistan is floundering because it's Muslim.

What makes his thesis simply absurd is that, Pakistan's elite political brass are the "Indian Muslims" rooted in the colonized mentality of their predecessors. h\and India isn't a plural society in the way he thinks it is, Religion is intrinsic and very blatantly represented in all sectors of Indian society. India is a world hub for human trafficking on scales that surpass Pakistan by light years. Drugs, smuggling and black market economy have major centers in India, particularly Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai and Madras.

India does have a great vibrant intellectual class, vibrant technology sector and some of the most top noltch educational institutions, the rub? It only benefits certain segments of their middle class. Everyone else is squabbling even still.

It's not really hard to observe, that Rushide was speaking not based on reality, but a narrative of platitudes to stroke the Farangi ego to reassure them they rightfully have a culturally hegemony that Islam and Muslims have no merit to contend against.
