Soon advantage of urdu being native tongue of muhajirs was no longer there, nothing to do with muhajirs being successful in particular. Not wiki lists again. Your muhajir list was made up, many people there were not even muhajirs. UP/bihar least developed, educated states of India. Not saying punjabis are angels, Zia supported MQM to counter sindhi nationalists PPP after he hanged Bhutto. From what I've noticed as long as muhajir leaders are ruling Karachi then there is peace. As we saw in Musharraf era when he gave Karachi some sort of autonomy. But as things started to go wrong for Mushy in 2007-08 thats when MQM real face came out once again. And 2-3 years of ranger operation have brought peace once again in Karachi. But job isn't done yet. Musharraf era peace was never long term if one call can shut down Karachi.

Now when MQM call for shutdown no one listen to them.
