Let's see Bollywood is exporting Western Social Values into the Indian Subcontinent, so they've basically indoctrinate whole generations to emulate and idealize Western social behaviors and customs. I commend India's work in science and technology; but thy society overall is still suffering from years of colonial inferiority complex. This is true. There is a very good book which thoroughly analyses how Sikhism and Sikh identity as we now know them were artificially constructed by servile British educated Sikhs during the "Raj".

The earlier chapters in the book also provide good historical accounts of how there were was very little to distinguish Muslims and Hindus living in Punjab during the 1800s. These Punjabis (Muslim and Hindu) were mostly all "low castes" following a mish mash of Hinduism and Sufism, what in academia is called 'popular religion' as opposed to orthodoxy.

Punjabis are a great case study for inferiority complex and mental disturbance.
