Let's clarify the phrase middle eastern - because Middle East was a geopolitical divisions given bythe British, however now this term has other meanings depending upon the connotation. It may cultural, religious, economic or political. It can be misleading.

Afghanistan has a layers of differing boundaries of culture, language, customs, with sub-sets.
Similar culture doesn't mean identical culture.

You have lived in Both Afghanistan,Pakistan and middle east and you might know better than all of us.

Be it the clothing, food and other cultural practices, you would find Pakistan closest than all the other neighbors.

Bilkul. That's true. There are some aspects similar, shalwar kamiz / partog kamiz / tanbi kurta / peran tomban - but difference is in detail. Others like some customs overlap but not encompassing enough to assign 'middle east'.
