  • Will you go back to Afghanistan/Pakistan permanently?

For those who are citizens of other countries, can you see yourself going back?

I don't think I can go back permanently due to security, lack of jobs etc. I might go back when I am over 60 when enough money to retire but I still don't want to lose my British citizenship as it gives you alot of previlages such as no waiting in the queues at airports etc.
I want to live somewhere in north east Afghanistan or Northern KPK when I go back.

I would not go back permanently, because I am a different variety of person with a different mindset and different aspirations than the ones that define the zeitgeist of the Afghan society today.

I have no interest in serving Afghanistan, my interest is to serve mankind and the welfare of all people. I am 100% Un-Nationalistic.There's no sense in taking pride in something I had no control over.

Being Muslim and standing for justice are the only things that I do control.

With that said, I'm a modern, technocrat that seeks progress, and sometimes that requires abandoning cultural and social structures of the past.

However, I'll forever honor where I came from amd what went into giving me the chances I have today.

In the end I belong to no land and no people .....which ironically was the same way Pashtuns originally lived ....as Nomads.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

There are some nice beautiful places in Afghanistan, Tajikistan or Iran one can settle and retire peacefully. Make a good amount of money whereever you live then when you hit 60-70 years go back and retire there, and live like a king among your own kind. although security is most important. u don't want to be robbed or killed. lol

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are other options if you have good degrees, preferably from American or European universities, although it may be too hot in the summers.

If Afghanistan further progresses and the situation becomes stable, of course I will go back permanently.

Of course you wouldn't want to serve your country, Tajiks lose every gram of ghairati when they start to live in the West.

Listen, you aren't fooling anyone with this Pashtun-wannabe act and acting hyper nationalistic. You're trying way too hard and that's a tell tale sign of a poser. As far as I can tell you're basically some Bangladeshi kid who once heard a story from some Uncle that he's a descendant of Sher Shah Suri, and now want to distance yourself from being Desi and claim you're Afghan.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

it depends who will take over the power, if taliban takes over or some other Islamic nut-jobs I will never go back. If more secular people come or at least people open up to people who think difffrently I would move to help where I can. I just cannot live in an Islamic shariah....

Thats quite contradicting, if you want to serve people why not start with the place that needs you the most? if Afghanistan was stable and normal I could understand, but it is one of the poorest countries in the world and it needs every help at the moment, so if you trully wanted to help mankind why not start with the people who needs you the most and where you originated from...

I can see why you believe it sounds contradicting, but if you understand the difference between helping "Afghanistan" which can mean concentrating efforts only on Afghanistan for the cause of Afghanistan.

Over helping humans beings because they're human beings,. Then you'll see there's no contradiction. I'll help Afghans not because they're Afghans, but because they're human beings and most of all Muslims.

All these identities, like "Afghanistan" are made up in my opinion. To me Only Islam is the only true identity one can have because it's something you have to decide to choose or reject. Or at least it should be.

If you disagree, that's your choice, but that's how I see it.

Even if that's true, which I disagree Islam applies for whole of humankind and meant for humankind. Which to me is better than being parochial. Something that is made from God would have to apply for everyone not just a specific nation or country.
