Today, May 3rd, marks World Press Freedom Day which is celebrated in many countries around the world including Afghanistan. Despite many challenges, increased levels of press freedom as well as growth in the media sector are significant development of the past decade in Afghanistan. Today Afghan officials including CEO Dr. Abdullah emphasized the importance of independent media and honored those in the media industry who lost their lives fighting for press freedom. We congratulate all Afghans in the media industry on their achievements developing, supporting, and promoting free and independent press.
