U.S. and Afghan officials are confident in the ability of Afghan forces, especially members of the Afghan National Army’s Special Operations Command (ANASOC), to fight an ongoing insurgency including the activities of ISIS loyalists throughout Afghanistan. A recent clearing operation to suppress ISIS activities in Achin district of Nangarhar province concluded with nearly 300 ISIS loyalists killed and injured during the operation, which took 21 days involving personnel from all security institutions including the Afghan Air Force.
