  • Tribel Culture, Why Pashtun still has it?

I have a simple question. Why does Pashtuns still have the tribal culture and still uses tribes to label themselfs.

Like in many other ethnic groups there were also tribes but they all went past that point and started to use either cities or just family names as means of recognition, but Pashtun are still sticking to it. I hear so many people claiming Pashtuns have thousand year history and what not, if that was true should we not have grown out of the tribal phase?

Becuase now every ethnic group has more cohesion and are socialy more connected but Pashtuns still kind of devided and fragmented. Would it be better if Pashtun were more like Tajiks or other ethnic groups in our region? Who show more unity becuase they do not devide themself by tribe?

Pashtuns and even many other muslims still have tribal cultures, which is unfortunate, the whole world has moved on and are going to the moon and mars, yet muslims are still stuck in the middle ages tribal cultures

Are you referring to our tribal society, or the fact that we use our tribe name to identify us with?
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

I mean both, well tribal name identification is just one small part of it. If it was just that I would not really mind, but you know very well that Pashtun tribes are not just for name identification....most Pashtuns will even work with other ethnic groups so that their tribe will come above other Pashtuns...thats just makes me sad and angry at the same time.

Societies evolve from tribal to feudal to industrial. It is the geology that prevents hill people from evolving to the feudal phase.

Wrong, what about the Europeans living in Alps, countries like Switzerland, Austria etc.. they are one the advanced countries in the world. It is the mindset of the people that stops them from evolving. The whole muslim world is suffering from that mindset

Europeans don't live in the alps. the alps are scarcely populated. Vast majority of Europeans are urbanized and live in city centers. Pashtun on the other hand are mostly living in rural areas. The problem is the lack of arable land for feudal structures to form.

Th majority of muslims are not tribal, the majority live in feudal structures like in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, pakistan, india, Indonesia, Malaysia with the latter three trying to industrialize their economies.

The Pamir people are still tribal:

But Tajiks that reside in shamali live on arable land and live in feudal structures where feudal lords have most of the control in the society because they own most of the land which is why feudal lords like AbdullahX2, the Rabani family, Atta, and others can easily bring together their people under an agenda since the people living on their land are like servants while Pashtuns on the other hand have no feudal lords therefore control is much more difficult which is why pashtun nationalists have failed. The pashtun nationalist have a very difficult time bringing their people together under their agenda.

Not all pastun land is barren mountain terrain, a lot of land in Kandahar Khost and Jalalabad is fertile farming ground, where majority have farms.

Jalalabad and Kandahar has feudal social structures as noted here:
The Indus region, comprising the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent (now Pakistan), has always had its distinct identity - racially, ethnically, linguistically and culturally. In the last five thousand years, this region has been a part of India, politically, for only five hundred years. Pakistan, then, is no 'artificial' state conjured up by the disaffected Muslim elite of British India. Aitzaz Ahsan surveys the history of Indus - as he refers to this region - right from the time of the Harappan civilization to the era of the British Raj, concluding with independence and the creation of Pakistan. Ahsan's message is aimed both at Indians still nostalgic about 'undivided 'India and their Pakistani compatriots who narrowly tend to define their identity by their 'un-Indianness'.

Kandahari people may identify with tribes but they really have no loyalty to them. You can see this with Karzai, Abdul Ghani Baradar, Aktar Monsoor all being Durrani and from the same area of the country but are on different sides of the conflict.

Khost is small that is surrounded by rugged mountains. Large fertile valleys have feudal structures which is why you can see people from different tribes living together in the cities like Khost and Gardez but once you step out in to the mountains, territory is strictly labeled on who lives where.

While the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, the Swiss population of approximately 8 million people is concentrated mostly on the Plateau,
No one lives in the Alps.
