In recent years, demand for Afghan-produced medicines has increased significantly. This is due to the financial and technical support many companies have received from Afghanistan New Market Development Project, a program operated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industries with the support and funding of the World Bank. This type of progress in the health sector is significant for Afghanistan’s economic growth. It lessens dependency on costly imported legal or illegal medicines as well as counterfeit medications containing insufficient or no active ingredients, and, it creates employment opportunities.
