I would say that both have their merits as you cannot look at something with unbridled ideological scope, you have to even challenge your own ideologue. You have to be able to see the meta-cognitive and the components of cognition.Progress and Change can sound very promising, optimistic but also introduces perils and perils which may in fact be more dangerous consequences. We should make our best attempt to model cost-benefit analysis in our decisions.

It can be liked to the cliched analogy of the glass Half Full vs. Half Empty. We forget it is contained in One Glass at the same time. We have to accept it wholly to function. Because this is reality. We should have a healthy wearinness of status quo yet understand that forward motion is inevitable and that there is benefit from a comprehensive understanding of reality. This is what helps to refine both modes of progress and while retaining the merits of principle from tradition.

The apparent tensions of contradictions are actually what proceed movement and dynamics in society and in nature itself.

                      Impressive words.
I think you are more post modernist than modernist. If postmodernism is balanced with modernism , then that will be ideal if not real.

How is that? We are doing it all the time. I mean we're integrating both all the time.

There are over-arching constructs and narratives that guide our progress, yet we discover new intricacies in innovation which invite new questions and extend our understanding of the original constructs that we had.
