  • Campaigns Against Gender Violence

Afghanistan has launched a nationwide campaign to curb violence against women as government statistics show a rapid increase in gender-based violence. The Afghan campaign, which has received the support of Afghanistan’s first lady Rula Ghani, also aims at raising awareness about women’s rights and equality. Although there are laws already in existence, like the Elimination of Violence against Women (EVAW) law, it is now a matter of implementing them to provide a safer environment for Afghan women.
What are some of the challenges Afghanistan’s Unity Government is faced with in implementing these laws?

The biggest challenge is Islamism. Quran and Hadith make women half of men and men superior to women. Afghans are generally extremist and Islamist and they will never let reinterpretation of these injunctions.

For gender equality first you have pass laws against Quran and hadith to declare all human beings including all women and men , equal.
