I do not know that why one dream of a prophet who tried to slaughter his son was so important that for that dream now millions of animals are slaughtered on one day throughout the Muslim world. Much of the meat is lost as such huge quantity of meat cannot be consumed in poor Muslim countries where refrigeration facilities on grand scale are not available.
I see this dream of the prophet very queer as how a God can ask him to murder his own son. This God seems to be very cruel who asks for human sacrifices and test his prophet in this barbarous way.
I do not see any sense in this tradition. Instead Muslims can have many other festivals where bloodshed of animals may not be that much important. Those they go for Hajj may enjoy their spiritual tour but those who remain may not be compelled to slaughter poor animals. Often as a status symbol, many poor Muslims ask for loans to emulate others who are mercilessly cutting throats of innocent animals on that day.
I would love to have your feedback so that sense may be given to this ugly festival of sacrifices.
